Contractor marketing · Utah
Utah contractor marketing, run by a guy who used to be on the tools.
I’m Portland Palmer. I was a plumber for five years before I got into marketing. Now I run contractor marketing in Utah: Google Ads, Meta ads, Local Services Ads, Google Business Profiles and websites. One goal: more jobs you actually quote.

The honest truth
The honest truth about contractor marketing
A lot of agencies have never set foot on a job site. I’ve seen the other side of it. When I was plumbing, I watched good companies lose work for dumb reasons. Here are the three I see most.
- 01
You’re paying for leads that never pick up the phone
Shared leads, cold traffic, people who filled out a form for fun. You pay for every one of them, and you call them back to voicemail.
- 02
Your website looks like everybody else’s
Same template, same stock photo of a guy in a clean hard hat, same three colors. Some agencies build these in ten minutes with ChatGPT and call it custom. A homeowner can’t tell you apart from the next guy, so they call the next guy.
- 03
Nobody can tell you what’s working
You get a report full of “impressions” and “reach.” You can’t tell which calls came from where, so you can’t tell what to spend more on.
I fix all three. That’s the whole job.
Services
What I do
Every contractor I work with gets the same thing first: tracking that shows where each call and form came from, and a Google Business Profile that’s set up right. Then I add what fits your trade.
- Local Services AdsThe “Google Verified” ads at the very top. Pay per lead, not per click.
- Google AdsSearch ads for the jobs you want more of, in the towns you actually drive to.
- Meta adsFacebook and Instagram, for bigger jobs people plan ahead for.
- Google Business ProfileThe map listing. Categories, photos, reviews, and reporting the spam listings next to you.
- WebsitesFast, built for phones, with your real photos and your phone number where a thumb can hit it.
- Local SEOReal service pages, reviews and listings. This one pays off in quarters, not weeks, and I’ll tell you that up front.
- Marketing automationFollow-up when you miss a call, review requests after the job, reminders for people still deciding.
- Lead generationHow all of it fits together so you own your leads instead of renting them from Angi.
Trades
Built for your trade, not a template
A burst pipe in January and a kitchen remodel are two different businesses. One needs the phone answered in five minutes. The other needs six weeks of follow-up. I set up each trade differently.

The offer
Start with a 30-day pilot
You shouldn’t have to sign a year-long contract to find out if I’m any good.
- 1Setup. You pay a one-time setup fee up front. It’s non-refundable. I build the tracking, the ads and whatever else your plan needs.
- 230 days, no management fee. The clock starts the day your ads go live. My monthly fee doesn’t start until day 30 or your first qualified lead, whichever comes later. A qualified lead is a lead from my marketing that you send a quote to, and you tell me when you’ve quoted it.
- 3Your call. After that, it’s month to month. Cancel with 30 days’ notice.
Ad spend goes straight from you to Google or Meta once the ads are set up. I never mark it up and it never runs through me.

Who I work with
Who I work with
I keep my clients’ names off my website. Here’s what kind of business each one is and what I do for them. I built the website for every one of them.
- A plumbing company in Salt Lake County: I rebuilt their website and run their Google Ads.
- A demolition contractor in Salt Lake City that also works Summit County: I built their website and run their Google Ads, Google Business Profile and Local Services Ads. Zero leads before I started. In the 30 days from September 11 to October 10, 2026, the ads drove 15 phone contacts.
- A handyman business based in Tooele County: I built their website.
One of the demolition company’s customers told them it was the best website they’d ever seen. I’ll take that.
Why me
Why one guy instead of an agency
When you call P2x Scales, you get me. Not an account manager, not someone overseas. The person who sells you the work is the person who does it.
I treat every business like my own. My success depends on yours, so every setting, every ad and every page gets checked before it goes live.
I’ll also tell you when you don’t need me. If your ads already bring in a good amount of qualified leads, keep doing what you’re doing. And if you’re not open to changing how you get work, I’m probably not your guy.

Questions
Do I have to sign a contract?
You sign a simple month-to-month agreement. No long-term contract: after billing starts, you can cancel with 30 days’ notice.
How much does it cost?
It depends on what your business needs: which services, how many ad platforms, and whether you need a website. You get a written proposal after a call. How pricing works →
Do I keep my accounts if I leave?
Yes. Ad accounts, website, Google Business Profile: all of it is in your name, and anything that has to start under my login gets handed to you.
Do you work outside Utah?
Utah is my focus, but I do take out-of-state work. Call me and we’ll see if it fits.
Do you only work with contractors?
Contractors and trades are my focus because that’s what I know. If you’re something else, call me and I’ll tell you straight whether I can help.
